Two children struck by car in St. Cloud crosswalk, one airlifted
A 56-year-old St. Cloud woman hit three pedestrians in a crosswalk, sending two children to the hospital with substantial injuries, police said. Two children, aged 6 and 10, were airlifted and taken to the Children’s Hospital in the Twin Cities after a car hit them in a crosswalk in St. Cloud. The injuries are not life threatening, according to St.Cloud Police Lt. Alec Elness. The driver, Nancy Thelen, was reportedly turning her vehicle onto 15th Avenue Southeast from University Drive Southeast when she hit the children and an adult. Police cited Thelen with failure to yield to pedestrians in a pedestrian crosswalk. Children ages 0 to 10 are the second least harmed age group, behind only those aged 91 to 100, according preliminary 2026 fatality counts. No recorded fatalities in those 10 and younger since the beginning of the year were recorded.
