ST. MICHAEL, MINN (KDLM) - School records continued to fall at Day Two of the Class A State Track and Field me... At the Class A State Track and Field Meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, school records continued to fall at the end of Day Two of the meet. Gracie Morris won the state pole vault championship with a PR vault of 12-00, Morgan Koppelman (Park Rapids, 11-00 PR) was third overall, and Danial Van Watermulen (Perham, 10-06 PR) tied for fourth in the girls 800m final. Lauryn Rustad broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles with a third-place finish in the finals with a time of 15.05. Meanwhile, Jaden Hackel and Amber Collins finished eighth in the 400m finals, while Remington Converse and Braeden Bredman finished seventh in the 200m dash. The Staples-Motley 4×800 team of Ashley Robben, Aften Robinson, Audrey Brownell and Kyanna Burton are state champions.

ST. MICHAEL, MINN (KDLM) – School records continued to fall at Day Two of the Class A State Track and Field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School on Friday evening.

Gracie Morris (Perham) won the state pole vault championship with a PR vault of 12-00. Morgan Koppelman (Park Rapids, 11-00 PR) was third overall, and Danial Van Watermulen (Perham, 10-06 PR) tied for fourth.

Jaden Hackel (Perham) PR’d in the triple jump for a second-place finish of 37-10.75…half an inch behind the gold-medal winner. Ellie Sousa (DGF, 36-04.50 PR) finished fifth, and Kennedy Pilgrim (Perham, 34-09.25) was 10th.

Lauryn Rustad (Perham) broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles with a third-place finish in the finals with a time of 15.05. Rustad, who will be running at UW-Eau Claire next spring, also finished ninth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.73.

Amber Collins (Wadena-Deer Creek) finished eighth in the 400m finals with a time of 59:81. In the girls 800m final, Morgan Koppelman (Park Rapids) finished sixth overall with a time of 2:20.13, Jada Goesen (New York Mills, 2:21.31) was seventh, and Lindsey Rotz (Barnesville, 2:23.47) was ninth.

Nevis senior Jade Rypkema won her seventh-career state title in her final race as a Tiger, PRing in the 1600m run with a time of 4:54.27. Rypka, who will run for Gonzaga next fall, will graduate as the defending Class A Cross Country champion, the two-time defending 1600m champion, and the three-time defending 3200m champion. Lindsey Rotz (Barnesville) placed seventh in the 1600m race with a time of 5:15.30.

In the relays, the Perham girls 4×200 team of Lauryn Rustad, Gracie Morris, Mya Morris and Jaden Hackel finished seventh overall with a time of 1:46.00. In the 4×400, Park Rapids (Natalia Lopez, Margan Koppelman, Madeline Brandt and Addison Lauwagie) finished third with a time of 4:03.87, Frazee (Elsie Ratz, Jayden Sonnenberg, Brynn Larson, Hailey Selly) was fourth with a 4:04.83, and Perham (Morris, Morris, Hackel, Cora Grismer) was seventh with a time of 4:07.02.

The Staples-Motley 4×800 team of Ashley Robben, Aften Robinson, Audrey Brownell and Kyanna Burton are state champions after setting the SMHS school record in the event with a time of 9:33.33. Park Rapids (Koppelman, Brandt, Lauwagie and Olivia Davis) finished second with a time of 9:37.14, and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale (Olivia Stanley, Mia Arroyo, Rochelle Dean, Kendra Miller) was tenth with a time of 10:07.59.

In the boys events, Remington Converse (Staples-Motley) finished seventh in the 100m finals with a time of 11.40. Converse was also eighth in the 200m dash with a time 22.97. Braeden Bredman (Barnesville) was fourth in the 400m dash with a new PR of 50.57, and fifth in the 200m with a time of 22.64.

Micah Thompson (Perham) finished seventh in the 800m dash with a time of 2:00.34, with Charlie Larson (Pelican Rapids) placing 10th with a time of 2:02.98.

In the 1600m race, Bjorn Andreson (who won the 3200m race on Thursday) finished second overall with a time of 4:19.91. Larson was sixth with a 4:24.94, and Ben Geeslin (United Clay Becker) was 14th with a PR time of 4:36.33.

In the relay events, the boys 100m relay team from Staples-Motley featuring Remington Converse, Austin Weite, Avandre Brandt and Hunter Miller placed fifth with a time of 43.51, and Park Rapids (Jaydon Walen, Luke Hartung, Cameron Runyan, Malachi Martin) finished seventh with a 43.88.

The Perham 4×200 team (Aiden Kennedy, Noah Thompson, Blake Swenson, Tyrus Coudron) was DQ’d, and the 4×400 team (Swenson, Micah Thompson, Isaac Paurus, Bjorn Anderson) was fourth with a time of 3:27.82 and the 4×800 team of Swenson, Paurus, Micah Thompson and Dylan Guck finished seventh with a time of 8:06.88.

The DGF 4×400 team of Joey Malstre, Kolton Wagner, Brody Friend, and Joe Wilson finished ninth with a time of 3:31.92.

The Bertha-Hewitt 4×800 team of Zane Guderjahn, Zach Baumgartner, Brady Rach and Preston Miller finished fifth with a time of 8:05.09, Park Rapids (Noah Huot, Ephraim Bervig, Blaine Hensel, Eli Bervig) was eighth (8:07.37), and United Clay Becker (Seth Torgerson, Bridger Larson, Landon Bakke, Taylor Johnson) was 15th with a time of 8:19.56.

In the boys field events, Park Rapids’ Luke Hartung won the state championship in the discus with a throw of 168-05 PR (Hartung was also runner-up in the shot put on Thursday), with Justin Jacobson of Pelican Rapids placing third with a throw of 161-05 PR.

Lyrik Haug (Wadena-Deer Creek) was 11th in the high jump with a 6-02, and Hunter Miller (Staples-Motley) was 15th with a 6-00. In the long jump, Bradley Olson of United Clay Becker finished 16th with a jump of 19-11.
