MINOT, ND (KMOT) – Outdoor emergency siren systems are getting an upgrade in Ward County, but not all counties can afford it.

The 911 Committee presented its proposal Tuesday morning at the Ward County Commissioners’ meeting to provide funding to help communities in need of funding for upgrades.

The rest of the upgrade includes radios for emergency response. Kelly Haugan, the county’s director of emergency management, said they are gathering more information about how much each city needs.

“If all 30 sirens get the help, that’s about $115,000 that’s already in the operating budget,” Hogan said.

The committee’s proposal will be submitted to the city council for approval.
