The Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Karl-Anthony Towns, staved off elimination with a 105-100 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night in the Western Conference finals.

In a stellar second-half performance, Towns tallied 20 of his total 25 points, while Anthony Edwards contributed 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. The victory marks a continuation for the third-seeded Timberwolves in their first conference finals appearance in two decades.

With the series moving back to Minnesota for Game 5 on Thursday, the team aims to further close the gap against the fifth-seed Mavericks.

Luka Doncic amassed 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists for his sixth triple-double of the playoffs. However, his and Kyrie Irving’s efforts weren’t enough, as they shot a combined 13 out of 39 from the field. Irving ended the game with 16 points.

The Timberwolves have consistently held leads late into the fourth quarter throughout the series, but Game 4 saw them close it out successfully.

With five minutes left, Towns, despite his fifth foul, secured the lead with a 3-pointer and followed up with another long-range basket, consolidating the team’s position.

A key jumper from Edwards extended the Timberwolves’ lead with 39 seconds left on the clock. Minnesota remained ahead, even as Edwards fouled Doncic on a made 3-pointer that cut their lead to three points with just 12 seconds left.

Following Doncic’s missed free throw, Naz Reid cemented the win with an extra basket that put Minnesota ahead by five points, with only 11 seconds to the final buzzer.
