Twin Cities Film Fest 2026 - Dispatch

Film critic Brian Eggert shares several capsule reviews from the 2026 Twin Cities Film Fest on Deep Focus Review. The 2025 Twin Cities Film Festival will take place from October 15 to 24. The Opening Night film, "Give Me the Ball!" focuses on tennis pro Billie Jean King, who stood up against gender discrimination in the 1960s and 1970s. The film, produced by ESPN as a 30 for 30 project, debuts on November 22. It's less focused on King's unconventional role in the culture and includes a chapter about her unhealthy relationship with food and marriage. The filmmakers believe hemp is the solution to many global problems, including climate crisis, food shortages, healthcare, and livestock feed. However, "One Plant" uses drone shots and testimonial-style interviews to promote hemp's use in its 90-minute advertisement. "Morelife," by writer-director C.J. Renner, is a tale of a world without a reason to keep living, searching for more mushrooms.
