After three years of George Floyd’s death, The Minneapolis NAACP continues to concentrate on the power of healing. The trauma caused by George Floyd’s death is perpetuated every time a black murder takes place in our community, at the hand of a police officer or our own hand. We have been actively working to heal our communities, through healing circles, education, reform, uniting our communities, speaking truth to power, and sharing love instead of hate. It is our hope to continue to break down the systems that plague our black communities by killing us, riding us of hope, inflicting fear, and leaving us for dead. We are back, and we will thrive, survive, and stay alive because we have each other, and we are “Better Together”, and the black community will overcome.
