MINOT, ND (KMOT) – When children reach the age where they can babysit small children… Trinity Health offers a hands-on learning experience with Safe Pointer classes.

Liz Larsen, a mother of three, said she was glad her daughter was finally old enough to take the course.

The class teaches the skills needed to deal with real emergencies.

Breathing instructions, hands-only CPR, and accident management are among the many topics covered.

Community Education Supervisor Kathleen White says these skills allow young people to become assets to the community.

After participating, students should feel more comfortable caring for young children, and parents can trust them to keep children safe.

“You can never be too careful with your kids, and unfortunately, you never know when a tragic accident could happen,” Larsen said.

Liz’s daughter, Aeris, says the brothers sometimes fight. She hopes they teach conflict resolution in the classroom.

“I want to learn babysitting because kids can hurt each other and we don’t want kids to hurt each other,” Aeris said.

All classes are held at the Trinity Health Riverside Education Center.

Registration is accepted for June 21 and 22; July 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27; and August 9 and 10.

Classes are held from 8:30am to 2:30pm at the Trinity Health Riverside Education Center.

The course is 60 dollars.
