House fire in Minneapolis last night A 79-year-old man is in serious condition after a house fire in south Minneapolis Friday night. Crews arrived at the 2 1/2 story building at the 3500 block of Holmes Avenue South around 10 p.m. There was a large fire in the front of the house and a firefighter suffered an ankle injury from stepping into a hole that had burned through the floor. Emergency services were able to rescue the man from the home, who was taken to hospital but is in critical condition. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

MINNEAPOLIS — A 79-year-old man is in serious condition after a house fire in south Minneapolis Friday night.

Crews arrived at the 2 1/2 story building at the 3500 block of Holmes Avenue South around 10 p.m. According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, there was a large fire in the front of the house.

Emergency services were able to rescue a 79-year-old man from the home. He was taken to hospital but is in critical condition.

A second alarm was rung and there was some minor fire damage to the outside of neighboring homes, MFD says.

A firefighter suffered an ankle injury from stepping into a hole that had burned through the floor. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
